Achieving widespread adoption of EVs is going to take more than proclamations from politicians, government rebates and the notion that EVs are good for the planet. It’s going to take more than cars that are affordable, technologically advanced, and designed to fit the lifestyle of 21st Century consumers. It will also take an innovative and disruptive approach to how cars are distributed, owned, and used. The current model with franchised dealers, financing gimmicks and high-pressure sales needs a complete overhaul. Additionally, because of the way cars are designed and built, currently customers are required to choose the options they want for the duration of time they own the car at the time of purchase.
